It has been a while since I have posted or fished but had a fantastic week this week fishing for gator gar with my brother and his wife. We fished hard and got a few great fish over the past 3 days. We also ran into another really great guy Curt P and his son on the river who also enjoy fishing for alligator gar for catch and release. fun times!

Hate when that happens to the hooks. Scary when they are bent the other way, you run into that yet?

yeah we actually had one fold in on itself! It was a cheepo hook from walmart that we picked up at the last minute as backup gear. we thought it was just a fluke and a bad hook but it was weird for sure. The rod got knocked off the bite alarm and when we pulled it in the hook was crushed... hahaha

Travis and David congrats! You guys are some hardcore fishermen!! You deserve that big one. Jack and I appreciated your hospitality and letting us hang with you guys. Awesome pics. That mud pic is incredible.

Travis it aint just the cheap hooks that they can bend down...I had a 4x wire eagle claw bent down last week and it wasn't even a big fish, just hooked in corner of mouth.

Parkenstein I know you recognize the spot... they moved right back in after you guys left. I would love to go down there again in the near future. Let me know and we should go.

Not sure on weight. We only took a length measurement and it was 7'3''. I wish we would have taken the girth so we could have made an accurate estimation on the weight... We got side tracked taking the pictures and forgot. The girth was pretty big on it so a guess would be 150- 170 lbs?

Nice fish Travis , need the girth to be sure I have had lots of really long fish this year that was not very heavy, my 206 was only 82 but 42 " girth
