I hit the lake early Monday morning and it was absolutely beautiful. No wind and the water looked like glass. I was fishing submerged stumps for catfish and my bobber goes under. I waited for two seconds and then reeled in the slack and gently apply tension to set the hook. Then my drag starts to scream for a quick second. My line shooting from one direction to another and I thought what the heck is this cat doing. Then I see a huge wide open mouth coming to the surface. Instantly panic sets in cause I just realized what's on the line and its about to go airborne! And it does!!! Holy smokies! It's the biggest largemouth that I've ever seen on the end of my line. And thank goodness I survived the first jump. Such a spectacular sight to see. Now I kick it in second gear and lay the drag off a little. This kept her under water with constant tension on the line and allowed me a quick second to grab the net. After a relatively quick fight I just landed my personal best at 8 pounds and 24.25 inches.
