Don Eaves from Overton, Tx is one of the original members of the Hickory Hill Bluegrass band. Don Plays a mean 5 string banjo and is all around good guy.

For a very long time he has been asking me to take him crappie fishing at Palestine. Today was the day. We hit the first dock around 7:30. When I was up 4-0, Don started fussing.

He asked me if he needed to take them banjo picks off his fingers, he couldn't feel the thump. I told him this was one string banjo playing and no picks were needed.

He quickly caught on and we started to fill the livewell.

We moved from dock to dock and caught fish just about everywhere we dropped a line. Had a few bigguns mixed in as the morning wore on. We tried a couple of brush piles but the wind just wouldn't let us fish them.

Pretty soon he was picking that one string banjo like a pro!!!

We ended the day with 40 keepers, 1 catfish, & 1 sandbass which Don promply through back.

He plays a real mean 5 string banjo, but me thinks he can play a 1 string pretty good too.

The other founding member of Hickory Hill was suppose to join us but he got mixed up with some kind of mud bugs, not sure what that's all about.

Nice report. I like mudbugs, but like Crappie fishing more.

WTG thumb I haven't fished Palestine in years. That may change after looking at your catch.

Very nice. Nothing better than a lil pickin' & a grinnin' with a big crappie in hand!
