What do you do first first thing tournament morning? Go to your limit spot or go to your kicker spot? I tend to go try for a big fish early and then go to a spot I think I can fill a limit. My thinking is a small limit will do me no good so whats the point if you don't have a kicker. But this hasn't worked so well for me lately.Which do you do first?

Kicker first. Can be my downfall but on occasion it works out.

most productive areas, and hope for a kicker. without a limit(or 4 good fish), you stand no chance in hades in cashing a check.
productive= meaning the areas with the best quality of fish grouped up. i wont go fish for a limit of 12" spotted bass if I know I can go catch 3 pounders off a row of docks or a few brushpiles.
I can not stand bed fishing, nor would I ever choose to do it ever again in a tournament. Unless there is a wad of 4+ fish that are committed in a specific area. if they are 2 pounders- it is a waste of time.

A limit of dinks doesn't do you much good and neither does one or two solids and nothing else.
I've done both before, and honestly I feel better about my day showing up with all five than I do with two or 3 kickers and not a full bag.
Last season I tried to much for big fish, and showed up litterely with the second and third biggest fish of tourney and nothing else trying for a heavy sack.
If I had some go to spots to fill the bag out with they would have been nice to do.
This year I've tried to get all five first and them cull with kickers but seem to come up with 5 dinks lol.
I know I fish more relaxed with 5 in the boat, when I have a kicker and go trying to fill the bag clock seems to start moving real fast lol

Limit first. Have a spot on Joe Pool that I can usually limit out in about 10 min if the wind is right, and last tourney there caught an over in the same spot. Always easier to relax and focus when I know I have five and am looking for that kicker...

Depends on tourney. Most of the time I begin for a kicker and I'll usually pick up my limit looking for my kicker. If I don't fill my limit looking for a kicker I just go a little more shallow and use a natural presentation and fill my limit. After I go back and look for a kicker if I didn't catch one before.

I rarely catch big fish when I look for them, so I just go fishing.
you know, nothing wrong with seven men who met on the internet going for a swim together
