I've used mine ther for ages. Just don't be an idiot. Throw it far far away from anyone fishing. I like to throw from the deep areas on the perimeter when no one is fishing out there.

Cast nets are a hard call. I let ppl use then if they are Respectful of ppl around them. But boss man says no cast net so most of the ppl who work there say no.

How is it that the barge cant say the limit of crappie is 5 fish but they can say no cast nets? when the regs say you can use a cast net at LL
Or can the barge say the limit of crappie is 5 fish?
Just asking?
Not trying to make trouble but I have seen cast nets used at that barge for bait fish.

I use cast net there all the time. Just use it on the back and away from people then you will be ok.

Just talked to the guy who is working up there now. He said they are getting them here and there but slow.
Don't know what is going on looks like it would be a good day to get some crappie.

Just my 2 cents... but I guess since it is their property and their place of business they can say whether or not to use a cast net... they do sell minnows... so maybe that is why ... there are plenty of places you could go before hand to throw a cast net... I don't really care if people use them or not but if i'm fishing an area and someone throws a cast net right close to where i'm fishing it kinda pisses me off... not sure if it scares the fish off or not but what if it does? That's disrespectful... same goes for the barge only allowing a limit of 3 poles per guest... if they didn't have this rule in place there'd be people out there with 20+ poles.

I went out last night from 8:45 to 1:30 and set outside by far north light. I used minnows at a depth of 4 to 10 feet. Caught 12 crappie. Other people were casting jigs and were catching more ofter than I was. None were keeper size. I might go back out again tonight.
