Headed out yesterday morning, 3 people in the boat on a search for a limit a piece. Well the forecast said partly cloudy and wind 5-10. Believe it or not the weather man missed again. The morning started cloudy and a slight breeze but the fish just weren't at our first spot. A few bumps in the trip and we are on good fish. Starting to load the cooler the distance from fish to lid is getting very small. So small two 14" flip the top and land on the boat deck. By this time we had seen clouds, rain and bright sun with a ton of wind. One of the fisherman is a first timer for "real" crappie fishing. Well low and behold he yells get the net. It's a 2.05! One of the veteran angler later lands a 2.24. At this point the number of 1.60+ fish in the boat is crazy. It seems like every fish is close to 1.5 nothing but slabs. At one point someone lands a dink 11" and I yell out measure that thing, not sure it will keep. Well those large fish sure will throw off your perception. Once the fish bite started to slow the HB SS would locate a fish the boat captain would call 1 fish 2 fish etc and bam bam fish on, hook set, swing in the boat. Key was to catch 3-5 fish and keep moving. Sticks and brush in 11-14ft seemed to be holding fish. The bait of the day was an Arnold Palmer special, dubed by the rookie because he didnt remember lane Palmer. Even though we'd mentioned 10 times how well lane Palmer catches fish without even being there. The white and chartreuse thump caught all of his fish even the aforementioned 2.05. Did I mention we were successful on our quest, oh and very few dinks and all fish were 11"+. 7 biggest fish were almost a 2lb avg Even landed a racing stripe fish, wonder where that comes from? Ha Oh did I mention the crappie are in their third spawn most of the females still had eggs and tons of them. A bunch of the males were in full black tux for the show too.

Well done indeed! Kirk sent me some of your photos yesterday, which had me pretty jealous to say the least. It's pretty bad when a fishing guide who has been catching crappie all day gets jealous of a picture full of crappie. Great job ya'll!

I'd like to buy a door like that, stringer filled with crappie, of course. Very nice.
