My income is decreasing, and inflation is increasing. Is it OK if I blame someone else? It'll make me feel better, that's why I prefer to blame someone else.
On point: It's a good thing I paid cash for my new Ranger,.....22 years ago. It's a clean one-owner, and it works.

Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.

Buy a 2yr old boat in great shape with warranty left and let someone else take the hit on the price.

Its the american way! Atleast these days it is. America has lost the power of the people approach it used to have and now has the general attitude of it is what it is. No more boycots or buying the better deal to stop the inflation. My guess is a lot of people get loans for things they really cant afford and in a couple years they have to get rid of it they still owe more than the actual cost of the item. Then you get a bunch of yahoos asking stupid prices for things they cant afford in the first place. That drives up the price of the used market to a point where theres not a big enough price difference between new and used so people start going mew again. Then the new market goes up so people start going used and the cycle starts over. The people can change things of they act together. We dont buy, they dont sell. That equals lower prices. I have a lot more but thats my .02 for now

Funny but this same topic has come up for as long as I can remember. We used to be able to search the archives of several online forums and find posts with this same title dating back to the late 90's. it isn't going to stop.

1994 20 foot skeeter with a 200 was about 22k. 2005 zx250 I paid 35k for and that was a deal. 2008 20i,was $53k. I hear a new FX 20 is close to 70k.

Went to the Houston Boat show in January and saw a 2013 Ranger for $75K. Bass Cat, Skeeter and Gambler not far behind. I have a 2003 ZX250 and going to maintain her as long as possible.

Yeah i was in cabelas with my son not to long ago and there were several bass boats pushing the $70,000 mark. Thought that was nuts. I paid 90,000 for my first house. New boats are nuts but if you do your research alot of boats are built bythe same companies just different names so you get the same quality boat just not the high end name. Dig around and you can stumble on a nice used one pretty cheap too.

Whatever the market will bear. I think that is what The Skipper is referring to. Quit "bearing it" and the results will follow.

At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

No new boats for me ever again, I looked at a "cheap" one ZX20 with a 250SHO and it was $49k WITHOUT batteries. It's gotten just nuts, I guess they figure everybody is a doctor or lawyer?

I'm about to get one and I'm going for a cheap tracker.

I think the expensive fiberglass boats are missing out on revenue. They could sell their customer lists to divorce lawyers and boost profit margin.

I saw a thread on the bass section about how much guys were spending for gas for those 100+ HP boats. Some guys were close to 100 gallons a month.

John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

Me too, the "economy" has altered my lifestyle.
I can only afford to go fishing ONCE a week. I go to the nearest lake (has a few LM bass). I'm down to burning only 4 gallons in my 150 Merc. Plus, my 4x4 GMC Envoy burns 8 gallons round-trip. That's 48 gallons per month.
Also, I paid $180K for my big diesel-pusher motorhome. Needless to day, it spends a lot more time parked in my backyard than previously.
I'm always looking around for someone to blame. And, NO (to the question regarding the mirror).

Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.

I love it when this subject comes up. Lets talk about the power of the consumer and individual accountable. We as a nation have become spoiled to where we think material things give us status and make us important. If you dont believe me, travel around the world and see how other countries live. Dont get me wrong I am very proud to be an American, and served 20 defending this country and would do it over again if call upon. However, nobody makes us spend so much money on our hobbies, we choose to. The individual debt we have is what we make. Yes, the price of boats and the accessories are expensive and the price is not going down and long as someone is willing to pay the price. As the saying goes, how much is a used car worth, whatever the consumer is willing to pay. I love it when I see expensive boats that are totally loadedI say good for them if they can afford it. The question is does it make you better fisherman? If you follow TFF a lot, you often see boat brand bashingits constant. I just sit back and laugh and try to avoid it. I own a 2006 Nitro 929 and the best part about it is it is paid for. I own it, it doesnt own me. Are there faster, fancier and better reputation boats out thereOF COURSE? Its all based on opinion. Now, if the boat cost close to the same as your house and you has no saving for the future, then you may just have a problem understanding financial priorities; but its your life. How many times have you seen the guy with the so-so boat win the money? You gotta love it; a good fisherman is a good fisherman no matter what boat they are in. So back to the question, When will the price of boats quit going up, $60,000 for a boat???!!! When we as the consumer stop buying them. Until then, buy what you can afford and do the little maintenance things to take care of it and enjoy having the ability to fish out of a boat. Next time you forget about what a thrill it is to have a boatstop and talk to the person fishing from the bank.

OK I am done on my soapboxhave a happy Memorial Day, I think I am going fishing on my boat.
