prayers on their way...
I had an old tiller model 18hp Johnson come in the boat with me back in 1974...I hit a log in Escambia River down in Florida...
It's a scary thing to be riding along one second and the next to have a propeller cutting the air 2 inches from my leg...

Terrible news...
Ken Rawlinson needs to weigh in on this. He hit a stump up in Glade a couple years ago and it knocked the motor OFF his Bass Cat. I think it was the jackplate bolts that gave way.

Motor mounts broke in half on Rawlinson's boat, Ken.

Sad to hear that a man lost his life. What I think may be even more saddening is the fact that the thread section of the article can't even make it through 3 posts before an entire group of grown A** men start bashing each other. That carp drives me crazy. Have a little respect.

This happened when the lake was high. The bridge has a horizontal concrete support between every other span. The span next to shore is open then the next one has the horizontal concrete support and then every other one after that. with the lake high those concrete supports were under water a bit and the warning sign is not so obvious. Those guys were running but didn't have a good knowledge of this bridge so they went under the wrong span on plane. On that bridge it is safer to go either under the span closest to shore or the one right down the middle in the channel. Sad deal.
