.

Is the boat ramp in Tom's creek open ? I mean, can you
launch a boat there OK ? I'm thinking about going over
there soon.

Also, where is a good place to buy minnows on the south
side of the lake ?

thanks kindly, Chris

Isn't Canyon bait house closed? Been by there several times and always has a "Closed" sign in front.
Only other place I know is the fishing hole off 306 at Potter creek rd. They don't open till 8 am and close around 4:30.

We need a good bait store on the south side!

Any one know when (or if) they plan to open the new ramp at Cranes Mill park?

New ramp? rolfmao

No, it's the same old ramp and when they did some renovations to the park they didn't touch the ramp and could have easily extended it when the lake was down during that time.
They are waiting for the lake to reach a certain level before it reopens and right now the lake is still too low.

Just one more cast!

Hmmm... I thought they resurfaced it and extended it a bit. Guess I heard wrong.
And yes, Canyon bait store is open. Bought minnows there today.
Fish did not like them much though... just a few crappie and a couple channel cats.
Sorry, no pics.

I feel that every time I have purchased minnows from canyon bait house I have been shorted. I would typically buy 4 dozen, and I can almost guarantee that it was short big time every time. Just a heads up. Anyone else had this problem?

Rough day at Canyon yesterday, fished from about 3:45 till dark, 1 smallmouth for me and 1 large mouth for my buddy. We fished our butts off!

I did well at canyon for the last few months. With crappie and lmb. Km Hindu can attest to that he's been with me a couple if times. But as of the last few weekends fish have changed patterns and have been harder to catch descent size crappie and bass. I'm headed back out there this weekend to hopefully create a fish fry of crappie. And search some different waters

The bass have been gorging on blue gill the last few weeks. I have never seen bass so fat in my life. They look freakish with their stomachs looking like they are going to pop.

Blue gill spawn should be about over and the fishing should pick back up soon.

Everytime. Just went there 2 weeks ago and bought 2 dozen and I bet there was only 18 minnows in my bucket. I keep telling myself never again but I live near there and guess I'm too lazy to drive to the north side of the lake. We need a new bait and tackle shop on the south side of the lake.

Where can you get bait on the north side of the lake ? Is the bait better than what you get on the south side ? Minnows from Canyon Bait House are always small and half dead..

They don't take care of there minnows at the canyon bait store. There is a bait store off hwy 306. I catch my own now with my green LEDs. So I wouldn't no how the minnows are at the other bait store. I like to not have to worry about bait anymore to crappie fish.
And Shawn t. Thanks for the info about the bass eatin bluegill. That explains why I've been catchin smaller bass on a blue gill pattern lure. I'm headed back out Friday evening il have to keep on tryin the same pattern and hope a biggin is hungry. Good luck on UR Thursday nighter tourney. I'd love to fish it off my boat but I don't have a functional live well yet. What's the definition of a functioning live well? Is it just an aeriator?

Fishermans Corner (the catfish stock tanks) off of 306 is the best place to get live minnow. I forget the gentlemans name but he is a nice guy, and if anything, he will make sure there are more minnows than what you purchased. I believe his operating hours are 8-4 but he is typically there before 8 and will take care of you. Just a headsup, f the canyon bait house, that place sucks
