Thanks General Jigs. I am using a lansky sharpening stone for fish hooks and I was pulling the hook where the hook point was moving in the direction opposite to where it was pointing. A lot of youtube videos, etc, should this method.

However, I tried running the point into the stone, i.e. into the direction it was pointed. This led to a much sharper hook point! The 30x magnification doesn't lie. The hooks in my picture are a lot sharper now. I will look into getting a diamond sharpener.

However of course no amount of sharpening will add back the lost metal. Maybe I need a "sandbass grade" pile of jigs LOL. Its too late for me to take pics tonight. I have 30 hooks sprawled out around my stereo microscope LOL.

As far as a utility for old dull jigs, sometimes I'll take old jig heads and snip off the hook, and then use the jighead as a weight. Yes it is cheap, but I hate to let stuff go to waste.

thats a good use for the old jigheads! that would make a nice drop shot rig weight.
