I've seen hundreds of gators on Fork while night fishing. I knew there were some in Twok, but I've never seen one. I have seen what look like gator slides up in some of the creeks though. I went to SFA and used to fish a lot of East Texas lakes with gators. They don't bother me at all. I'm a million times more scared of a snake than I am a gator.

My understanding is that nearly every lake in TX has gators , not an average but a resident or two, unlike LA. where the are in huge #'s. Having lived in southern Louisana for over ten yrs., we would spot at least 5 and sometimes 6 on a Sunday afternoon, broad day light. They were not timid nor were they aggressive!

compare to LA swamps, T'wak water is like a "bowl",... gators can't hide which means they can't ambush their preys... submerged timbers are useless for gators, more dangerous to the gators than their preys in the way gators thrush their heads and widely roll their bodies when they attack prey... back coves might provide some habitats but at low water back coves are just as barren as open lake water. Gators can't survive in T'wak water.

The pursuit (where are the fish), rigs design and setup, scouting, the awesome feeling of casting your rigs 100+ yards out, the total focus on the fish and the elements, the outdoors... the total exhaustion at the end of your fishing day,... the cooler full of fish to bring home... Yeah, I'm going to miss bank fishing!

The only place I've seen one is at a zoo. And even in that type of setting they still scare me to death. I'd rather deal with a snake. At least I have a chance to get to a hospital if it's poisionious. Alligator - can't get my leg or arm back. IF you survive.

I'm going to have to pack an exrtra pair of shorts for the TSA on Tawakoni this weekend as a just in case. peep

That's a great picture Ron. Ive done the same thing once. Heck of a rush... The below picture was taken this year while creek fishing the northern part of Lake Lewisville. Looks to be a gator.

LL has a river system, a couple of running creeks...some habitats there... however, that foot print looks more like those of a nutria rat than a gator. JMO

Btw, T'wak has quite a few big nutria population...they usually come out at dusk and in the dark of the night... looking at them swimming in water from a distant, they look like a large snake or small "gator".

None of those gators will survive human invasion of their habitats. North, South, East, West, every where they go they will run into some sort of human residential areas or "recreational" areas where small children,....even their pets are considered "endangered" by gators... gators have no where to go... gators will be captured, shot or starved to death... none of them will survive as humans continue to invade their habitats. I don't take sides, but just state the fact...gators have more to fear from humans, then the other way around.
