Jose - naw, you and my other young friends fit that description. fish

The MOST IMPORTANT key for successful fishing for striped bass on Lake Texoma is understanding seasonal patterns.

Hey George, I agree that the Islands are the prime area right now, but you need a boat to fish most of those spots.

Are there any public access bank fishing areas in that part of the lake? A couple of spots by Highport are all that I know about and I don't know how to get to one of them on foot. Is there some other bank access spot available?

Actually they are busting the top out of East Burns Run right now. You still need some type of water craft to get out to them. They'll be within casting distance of shore in about 30 days. The point by the lighted fishing pier at Eisenhower is great this time of year.

Rex, we discussed at one time some accessible spots but agree that small watercraft work well if weather wise to risks involved.
There are many spots such as Mill Creek accessible, as other areas that I marked on your map - just takes a lot of scouting around and getting acquainted with locals which have private access.

Jerry is right on - the stripers are in what I call a "transitional" mode - between seasonal spring and summer period.
You can always find small "young of year" schoolies in warming water shallow creeks, coves and marinas.
It's natures way of keeping big fish from eating little fish. grin

You are also correct in big fish returning to main lake in about 30 days or so I remember this fish very well - rainstorms just chased us out of east Burns run this one took me into the backing!

I guess I missed the boat on my reply suggesting the Dam and Eisenhower. Both locations can be hit or miss for Stripers, but they both hold other species pretty much year round and are accessable on foot. I thought the orginal question was for bank fishing spots, but most of the other locations mentioned require a boat.

So, now I'm curious since I rarely fish from the bank, does anyone have a better bank access spot to recommend over the river, the Dam or Eisenhower?

Rex, you are asking some tough questions this morning.
Other than the Dam or Eisenhower - yeah - but I am out of date - at one time before all the big boat slips were built at Highport and Mill Creek marinas, there was bank access - you could cast between some of these slips.

No one ever mentions Walnut Creek Marina area, creeks and coves - one of my favorite areas.
I would do some exploring around Platter Flats area, wade fishing shallow gravel flats for smallies

It will take some hard work to find access spots on Texoma - no one is going to tell on an open forum - other than Eisenhower State Park.

Regional patterns and species sought come into play, as you know.

ps: Google Earth is your friend - check out areas I mentioned - fantastic resolution for access.
