Anyone know how much if any, water depth did the lake pick up from the recent rains? water level at 900 ft I think it was at about 899 before recent rains. I thought it would have come up more

The lake came up a full foot to 900. As much rain as we had, it really needs to fall over the upper Guad. Once the Guard starts flowing pretty hard, it has the most impact to the water level. We have more chances for heavy rain again tonight and through tomorrow. There is a decent line in west Texas right now. www.gbra.org shows river flow and current lake level (streamflow tab). Hope this helps. Steven

Normally that rain we had would probably had a little better results, but it's been so dry for so long, the ground pretty much soaked it all up and that along with all the dry stock tanks upstream on those ranches probably held back quite a bit also. Maybe this rain pattern will keep it up and then one good soaking storm from the gulf and we'll be back to normal.

I live a 1/2 mile from the Guadalupe river were Nichols landing is above canyon lake in spring branch. And I had 8" at my house flooding everywhere. On my ranch but as muddy as it got in 48 hours later the ground was all dry and cracking agian. We need a storm system like that every week to get back to normal water levels. They closed ramp 8 last week. That's we're I've been doing really good fishing the last 3 months. Tried Tom creek a couple if times but weather ran me off the water both times. Went and paid to launch at cranes mill marina (10$!!!!) But hit my honey holes round there and had a great two nites fishing this past weekend alot if crappie some good keeps. And a few nice size whites. In headed back out tmaro evening to see how it goes and try out my new hummingbird unit see if u can find some fish.

Where abouts the lake are you catching crappie? I have only been upriver before to catch crappie. I normally launch my kayak at ramp 11 and paddle down towards the lake aways hitting the tree tops in the water. I have been thinking about trying cranes mill marina sometime for some crappie..thanks for any input you can give brotha!!

Didn't you just add some pertinent info to this thread. If you don't like it start a new thread and give a report. Who cares if its 1 page or 15, theres not alot to discuss in this part of the Hill Country.
