Both my Tundra's have the 5.7 and I keep them(cruising) just under 2K rpm and see 19-19.6mpg pretty consistently. The harder the wind is blowing the worse the mileage is,I didnt buy them for fuel mileage though.
Not what a pick-up is for IMO.

It will pull a boat without any problems at all. Just the gas mileage sucks! ..I am just wondering what kind of mileage are you getting,I am on my second Tundra its a crewmax 4x4 LTD and I am getting right at what it is rated to get.I am thinking with some more miles put on it ( has less than 2k now) I should be able to do a little better. I average around 10.5 mpg. If I drive 70, which is not problem - 9.5 mpg If I drive 60, no hurry - 11.5 That is what mine gets as well,, That was pulling my Triton,, I just upgraded to a Phoenix and it is alittle Heavier so I will have to check it with this boat.. It pulls boats like nothing is back there, But it does LOVE gas stations. But I do have a 6 inch lift and 35s on mine.

I previously owned the 02 toyota tacoma and was in the market to get a new truck earlier this year and was torn between the Tundra and the Tacoma.. I love the look of both, of course I was planning on putting on a 3" lift on either of the two along with a bigger wheel and tire package. I have a couple buddies with tundras and get some pretty bad mileage when it comes to pulling a boat around that was about the only thing that kept me for pulling the trigger on one..
I opted for a 2013 4x4 Tacoma v6 and it does everything I need it to do and I get around 10-13 mpg when pulling my 19ft Ranger

Tundra will get 10mpg pulling a full size bass boat. Worse the that if hilly or windy.

My 2011 tundra is getting 13 pulling my ranger z-21. It all depends on how you drive. I do a constant 70 mph where I can. I love it.

2013 Tundra.. gas mileage sucks but man will that thing pull.. I can get everyone off the line and beat them to the turn if I need to. I bought it to pull a boat not for the gas mileage. So no complaints here.. cant even tell the boats back there..

I have a 2010 crew max. It pulls OK. Same as stated by others, mileage sucks! Still not used to hearing a motor wind out the RPMs for some torque. I also have an 04 crew cab duramax, NO COMPARISON!!!! That Duramax has some balls. Getting 16.9 mpg with the boat behind it, too. In short for the Tundra, well built, rides great. You just have to feed the beast!! Very, very dependable!!
