Ditto. Any ideas on how to get on the lake without fear of reprisal? There was recently a very long string of posts and after the last round of comments on this subject, I drove out there with my boys to find the "public ramp" that was talked about. I found it and just like one of the TFFers said, there was a sign at the entrance that said "Private Ramp." Given the comments about mysterious flat tires on trucks/trailers sitting at that ramp, I decided not to try and launch. And I'm assuming it would be very expensive to "join" the Ski Lodge just to hav a place to launch, if they even let a bass boat owner join?

I use the gvtc ramp it's a public easement for the power company and gas company there is a pipeline that runs under the ramp. It's not private a homeowner put that sight up it means nothing. I use it nobody has ever gave me any problems other than dirty looks. There used to be a public ramp but they sold it to a private investor . Rumor has it there suppose to put another one in. I would call gbra and put pressure on them .

Used to love fishing this lake. The fact that there is no public ramp is rediculous. This needs to be fixed soon. Don't know what kind of a scam is going on out there but it has to be illegal to have a lake built with public dollars and not have access for the public to use it.

Thanks for the information. I found the ramp you are talking about. Having been in the Army for the last 20 years, I shy towards being a little less of a risk taker when it comes to following the "rules." I was just too nervous to launch there given all of the "authorities" (TPWD, GBRA, etc) officially say there is no public access. I may try it tomorrow with my boys anyway thanks to Ft Sam Houston giving us a day off due to the Fiesta events. Is it pretty safe to get to the main lake by just watching my electronics?

Can you park elsewhere, after launching?

. I really do NOT like to know how great it is at Lake McQueeney. But, I appreciate reports on other lakes/accessible lakes. I can guess, all by myself, that a lake will offer good fishing if it's not open to the public. Actually, I'm kinda glad that this lake does not have a public ramp, because pretty soon the fishing quality would suffer. Yeah, I checked out, and took pictures, of the powerline-broken concrete ramp. I decided my boat might be too heavy or too big for this ramp,....or that somebody might get angry at me and take it out on my GMC 4x4 Envoy/Ranger Trail rig.
Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.

Is that ramp under the power lines near intersection of Ridgeroad Dr/Ridgecliff Dr?
Has anyone actually had there vehicle/trailer vandalized, or is it just rumors?

Has anyone actually had there vehicle/trailer vandalized, or is it just rumors? Real or imagined, it's the same bottom line for me. I have no tolerance for thieves. And, it drives me nuts to be victimized. At Dunlap Lake, it's worth every bit of the $5 to launch at Schumann's ramp, just for the security. But, a big bonus is the restrooms.

i have been launching there for years and have NEVER had one problem. not saying it couldn't happen, but i've never heard anything about it except here, second hand. until the loop outside of new braunfels is built, and they have to cross the lake, there will be no public ramp. after that i think they will have something like dunlap and placid. only problem is that the loop is years away. from my understanding the ramp was an old neighborhood ramp that was taken over for the eavesment. even at that point it was run down and unused. the person who told me this has a couple of rental properties in the neighborhood and used to run hot shots. he has been around of lake mcqueeney for more years than i have been alive.

The gas line ramp in the Logswood subdivision off of FM 725 is useable. Ramp is in poor shape but you can still put in without problems. I put in three weeks ago with no problems and have used that ramp for several years without one problem.
