Caught about 40 of these lil bastards today! We could have caught 100 but decided to move and hunt for a big fish. I caught this spot with a mouth full of eggs.....This is why the LMB population is no more...

That's good raccoon food. Those Spots have ruined AH.

Oh, what could have been. Alan Henry had the potential to be a fine lake for not only west Texas but for the rest of the state. It is a unique hole of water that offered a neat set of challenges to anglers. But just as it was coming into its own, the spotted bass went from being a rarity if caught to the predominant fish in the lake. And with that went what could have been.

That's horrible, do the spots not get big out there? Since its such a great Eco system for spots, the state should stock coosas in there, like California did

I know a lot of people do that but I feel bad. doesn't seem very sportsmanlike...I would rather relocate 10 at a time to a playa lake...

Keep your daily limit. Lakes bass populations need to be managed to flourish. I rarely do my part but I try to.

Did you keep your alotted legal limit? If so rant on..........if not oh well.

I love spots. A spot fillet will put wiskerfish to shame.

With the current lmit being the way it is, it will NEVER CHANGE! Here it is from TPWD, ONLY 2 fish les than 18" can be kept, both LMB and Spots.

Fishing Regulations for Alan Henry
Return to search page

Note:
Fish consumption advisory in effect. Get details
Black bass
For largemouth and spotted bass there is no minimum length limit. Combined daily bag limit for all species of black bass = 5 fish. Up to 5 largemouth or spotted bass may be retained; however, only 2 may be less than 18 inches.

KINDA SUX not being able to do much about it. We need to pepper TPWD with suggetions, IMO, about what SHOULD be done to imporve AH fishing. It would not surprise me to see a large sopt come out fo that lake, something a LOT MORE than the current Texas record it has now.

Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I had forgot about the odd restrictions. It definitely seems like TPWD is managing for the spot fishery.
