can you use pipe cleaners instead of the chenille on crappie jigs?

Your neighbor did you a solid. That is a lot of nice stuff. You don't need to spend a lot of money. Just get a card of your favorite color chenille and a bag of feather and go to town. There is a guy that posts in the jig makers forum, I can't remember his handle, but he has a nice 'how to' video on YouTube.

YUP..very addicting!! But, at least it's not BAD for you ... just make sure you are either outside, or you have a decent exhaust system of some sort to get the fumes from the lead away from you ...
Fly tier (yeah, I can fly fish...but the fish don't like frothy water!)

thanks gents...I kinda cheated on the heads...I used ready made plain 1/8 oz jig heads...wanted to make some for the next couple of days without messing with the lead... Here is my first 13 jigs ready for NM...by the way...any criticism, constructive or otherwise will be gladly accepted...

I really like the color choices you made!!! I would tie some of the same patterns in a smaller size myself. I sometimes find the crappie like a lil smaller jig for some reason and if you are in an area where you can pitch under docks you want a little less weight so the rate of fall is slower. You might get some critic about the tails being a little long on some of them but to tell you the truth some of the ones i catch with have longer tails... Great start... The two top left might should of stopped or started the body material a lil further up the shank leaving more room for the fish to get on the hook.. I like them tho might just open those hooks up a lil Great ties man

Oh and I always like to put a little flash on some of mine say like 80% of my ties have some crystal flash of some sort.

thanks Chuck...that's what I'm looking for..
I was thinking they were kinda large as I was tying them and finally looked at what I have been using and they were 1/16 oz....agree totally on tying some smaller ones...
and you reminded me...mylar...yup...gotta get some mylar...
