That's a good size pure strain greenie. The pure strains don't get to much bigger than 8"-9", but a greenie mutt can get pretty big.

Fairfield is a killing field for Tilapia !!! We camped there over Spring Break and my son and a buddy arrowed 20 of them and we saw some guys in a jonboat who had 4 big coolers full of them that they said they had castnetted in about 2-3 hours. The ranger there (Mike) is a super guy and he loves to see as many taken as possible. They are over by the hot water discharge area.
Pray for a return to our Constitution.

I wish though

We caught some tilaps down south here in Coleto Creek by surprise in the cast net. I didn't weigh them but I estimated each one around 3 #s. I didn't even know they got that big. They may have even weighed a little more. I don't know. Anyway we filleted them up and cooked them there at the lake and they tasted just like hydrilla smells. Lol

After the fish kill and lack o preditors lake Fairfield is full of giant talapia. Tpwd allows the stocking of blue talapia that strain is not cold hardy and reproduce a few times over the course of there season. Make great forage for bass.

I like to fly fish, but the vest is a good place to stash a few rapalas as well. The red was a bull out of O'Connor

Fred (The Rionator) has caught bigger fish than this, but this guy was a fatty. It's where he garnished the name "The Rionator", for reasons obvious to all. I've posted this pic before, but I never get tired of looking at it. Behold. The Rionator! Obviously that fish is only in the southern Texas because I've never caught one, are those Rio's? Whatever it is, it's ugly and big! LOL! Ugly? nah... It's a beauty! On aquarium websites they are referred to as a Texas Cichlid. They get huge and under tank lights are kinda pretty in a big, knucklehead cichlid kinda way. Bigger the nogg'n head the meaner too. Incredibly aggressive fish. Beasts! LOL
Yep. I'm a woman who loves to fish. And sure you can load my boat for me. Hee Hee
