We were doing ok with medium tackle, like #1 hook with live shrimp...no weight, just letting them swim around near the rocks at the Port A south jetty, we caught some sheepsheads and speckled trout...someone on here limited out on the spanish macks with a top water silver lure...I was using 10# test, light fishing rod...
Fly tier (yeah, I can fly fish...but the fish don't like frothy water!)

What are you wanting to catch? The kingfish should be coming in with the clear water in the next few weeks. If you want to go after them get a few 1oz blue chrome rat-l-traps. Make sure not to get the off brand or different color cause you won't even get a bite. I also use the big red and white super spooks or Chugn spook. Put about a 12" steel leader and you'll have a blast when they come in. I used a 5500 spinning reel on a 7.6 rod with 30lb braid. This was my biggest last year, just shy of 60". I caught that one one a red and white super spook and 14lb mono. It was a awesome fight. Just wait till you see one of those kings hit a topwater and fly out of the water 15 feet up.

Here's another one I caught with the topwater in its mouth so you can see what I'm talking about if you didn't know.

Use a crab for reds.they can't resist.bigger the better.thrown as far out as possible. To get off rocks.for trout use small half dollar sized pin perch or something like that.

Awesome King, 14# mono !!WOW!!... My PB 43" I caught last year, almost gave my a Heart Attack trying to land with #20 mono...Especailly when I hooked-em on the end of the Surf side and it started to run towards the Channel side... And +1 on the 1oz blue chrome(!!Geniune!!) rat-l-traps....
