if you turtle your PA 14, either you're on a lake with 40mph winds with 6' waves or you just an plain clumsy. I have a PA 12 and it will take alot for me to turtle. Stay close to shore at first, within 5 minutes, you will realize how stable it is. If you're not sure, go to one of our open invites and so you can be more relaxed to test the your limits. Before you know it, you'll be fishing and forget the idea of turtling.

Standing up will be weird first. I recommend just setting your kayak in some grass and practice standing up in it just to get the motions down. I did that as well. My kayak is only 10 feet so standing is pretty tough for me, but I'm a young athletic guy with good balance (thank you snowboarding) so I do it when the water is calm. If there is waves I won't stand in my yak cause I know one day I'll fall! Haha. It can be scary going out in big water in such a little boat but you'll get used to it. Just stay aware of the weather and other boats and stuff around you. Always wear a PFD so just in case you flip and your boat gets away from you you will live. You're going to be surprised at how stable that 14 footer is though. You'll be able to dance around in that thing after you catch a beast!

You will be fine. I weigh 305 and I just bought a PA a week ago. I went out to Lavon on Monday even though it was windy and the waves were moderate I was able to stand up. I threw my castnet until it got stuck and since I had not bait I started fly fishing. If I can stand up being as heavy as I am I sure you will be fine especially on calmer days.
My son weighs 125 and he walks around it like its a bass boat so yes it's very stable.
