Looks great man. I have a Pescador... did you do this from a guide or just wing it? You should write up a guide if you did, I want to make something like this.
You tested it in the pool and can stand up pretty comfortably?

I would be interested in having it for when I go to lakes and away from the shore. and still having the ability to take it off when in creeks and such. Awesome Build!

I saw a bunch of different ideas on the internet. Most were way wider than my setup (which helps with stability, using PVC, you are going to have some flex if you go too wide). I didn't like to looks of those builds and after some experimenting, I found that I didn't need to go that wide for the stability I was after. It's great for standing now in a calm pool setting. Not sure how it would handle wakes from other boats or heavy chop (I don't worry about those in most of the places I fish). I could put together a write up later this afternoon. Pretty simple project once you commit to it. The only tools you need are a drill, saw, and measuring tape.

I don't want stuff sticking too far off the side of my boat.

Cool setup. Do you get enough stability to stand? The floats seems close to the yak. I'm essentially doing the same thing. My riggers are just wider. Same thought process, just a little different setup. I'm still working on mine. Materials I used: - Steel conduit (3') - Black flag pole holders from Lowe's - Secured with screws, nylon nuts and washers - Secured 5"x5" aluminum plates inside the yak as mount/backing under each flag pole mount. - Little marine goop for water protection and firm seal

Did you try flipping it in your pool and turning it back upright in deep water? I like the idea because I'm nervous about kayaking in big lakes, but would be concerned about recovering if i did turtle.
Jonah 4:2 I knew that You are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, and one who relents concerning calamity.

You should be able to flip it back over if you pull down on the bow and turn the kayak back over. The design of those outriggers would help in a way of adding more secondary stability. It would definately give you more chance of recovery if you tipped too far than without them.
Just one more cast!

I think I'd have to try hard just to make it tip over. It feels as though I'm far more likely to go overboard from a loss of balance than actually managing to roll it completely over.

Nice build! Let us know how it performs on the lake. I am interested in knowing how comfortable you are standing and fishing with normal boat activity around. Thanks for sharing.

Nice design. Does it get in your paddle stroke at all while sitting? What size PVC?

curious of the paddle stroke as well. I dont want to stand myself... just more stability in lake conditions.
