After reading a ton of different views on this I think B.A.S.S. got exactly what they wanted. It was a boring tourney and needed some spice, so they added some drama, possibly at Alton's expense.

An interesting post from Rojas' marshall that was on the BassCat forum:

"I marshaled for Dean the first day, we never saw Alton the entire day. We saw Kreit and one spectator boat. Dean mainly fished one stretch as did kreit and then they swapped towards the end of the day I think out of shear boredom. We never saw Alton as we were leaving out either. Alton should have respected Deans water in my opinion and not gone up there."

How the hell did Alton beat him there? Wouldn't Rojas been out first and they have the same boat.

So if you are fishing the final day, but you are a bit too far out to finish first, you should just give up and go fish dead water so you dont get close to someone who could win? I dont have a pay scale in front of me, but I'm pretty sure that there is a difference between the prize for 4th and 12th place. If I am fishing for my career, I am going to try to legally finish as high as I can every tournament.

Yep but not as big as the difference between 1st and 2nd.. You would not be well liked among your peers either. What's respect worth to you?

Its just respectful and he would want the same courtesy shown to him.

I'm still wondering what folks missed about this. From Rojas' own Marshal. Rojas had the lead after the first day. Game over. His water. Not the entire Bayou, but the stretch Rojas fished on day one. And we know that AJ was not on that stretch the first day, per Traybird.

My question to you two fine gentleman is this. If Alton Jones never went up there where Rojas was, then how could he have "stole" his spot? He never went up there so he didn't know where Dean was fishing. Seems to me he thought he had a shot at winning, decided to try a new spot in the area he had been in all week and it just happened that Rojas got beat to a spot he wanted to fish. So how about you all quit bashing a guy in a situation in which you clearly no nothing about.

I lost respect for Alton Jones when he clearly showed no sportsmanship in jumping on KJ's water. Now he does it again to Rojas. Some are defending AJ's behavior as being a competitor. Those must be the same people that jump on top of me when I'm out on the water and act like it is no big deal. Hell, I had a guy literally cast into my boat one day and almost pull a rod off the deck. He didn't even apologize. I know he wasn't there all day until he literally came right at me and started fishing on top of me. That is the same sort of classless behavior AJ just showed and he knows it was wrong.

I hope AJ gets in the lead and the lowest six places on the last day all jump on top of him and his water all day. He needs to be taught a lesson by his peers.

I know there are two sides of every story however JVD was criticized for doing the exact same thing to Denny 2 years ago and he made his opinion known. Alton may have been there all 3 days, however I do feel it was wrong to STAY there when Dean was in the Lead.

That being said, Dean clearly let it effect him more than it should have. JVD rolled up on Denny but Denny was still able to out fish him and win. However, I can see why Dean would be so angry considering the tough bite going on.

It's a tough spot, but I still feel that Alton was in the wrong. Give the leader his space. They were literally right next to each other.

Noone said anything when KVD won on the Louisiana Delta. He was talking with other competitors. It was said at times his and another competitors boat actually rubbed rails. Is that giving the leader space???

How about this weekend at Falcon?? Did you see all the people at the dam?? Is that giving Combs the water because he was leading. Some of those guys were really far behind that didn't stop them from competing right next to him.

If Alton had not been in there all week and then just hole jumped then that would definatly been wrong. That is not the case here he was there everyday.

The competition got into Rojas's head. It's to bad and I wanted one of them to win.
And YES I believe in Alton because of his FAITH and all that he has done to prove his integrity.

How do you figure, other than none of them ever think they're out of it?

Jones avgd. about 9.3 pounds the first three days. Rojas avgd. ~12.5. Alton was 7 pounds back on the final day of an event where many said they didn't even know if they could catch a fish. 2nd toughest tournament in Elite Series history.

I'm sorry, but I just don't see that as a safe, or "reasonable" bet. Not even close.

If you go off stats then we should never fish or play any game and just give it to who is picked to win!! There are always upsets ...look at the march madness. Conditions change
In poker it is a common statement to say if you have a chip you have a chance. IF you don't believe that then don't play.
Fouzman I really like to follow you on here. You really seem to be a nice guy but I think you are wrong here.

I do agree with the fact that Faircloth would most likely have won anyways.
