I've been 2 times in the last 4 weeks. Lots of kayakers paddling from and launching from Trophy Club Park.
First trip back @ first of March, I caught only 1 crappie while trolling up the creek.
Last weekend was fun. Nice weather, less traffic, and even though the wind was strong from the south, it wasn't bad paddling up and down the creek.
First thing I caught was a sunburn...ouch! But I was able to snag a couple nice sand bass, and crappie, and 1 big (big for me) bass.
The cool thing about the trip was that I paddled up to the tributary / split in the creek that is just east of Hwy 377. It's mostly a dry rocky creek bed, except for a few holes holding water...and some fish. After short walk up the dry creek, you will find a bit of water - kinda murky, but a cool sight.
I threw a white grub a few times, caught two baby sandies, and 1 good LMB. Reminded me of my youth, when I used to explore Village Creek in S. FtWorth/Burleson for miles looking for these holes to play around in.

Probably will be heading up to the creek again this weekend to try my luck at some more sandies. They were allover the fishfinder last weekend, but had trouble enticing a lot of bites. Water temp was up to 65 during the last part of the sunny day, so I'm wondering how the cool front is going to affect the bite.

Not a bad lil bass I'm guessing you put her in big water? When clay, aggieyak, searsay and myself went in February those holes were frozen!

Haha yeah we've walked that creek to the first pool but never thought to fish them. Cool stuff man. There are some deep holes right around that creek entrance that were holding fish a month ago.

I'm debating going there tomorrow. Wind forecast looks brutal but the creek is the best place to be when that's the case. Any of you guys want to go?

I'd love to head over there again this weekend but the temps will be below my threshold. Wind would suck if you try paddling up river but might make for a easy float back down. Seems though that most of the fishes are being caught around the boat ramp.
Of course everything changes in a week just like this crazy weather.
Maybe next weekend i'll make another sandie run.

And I know there are some good crappies in there, but apparently I need someone to help me find and catch em...
