I think I am going to put my kayak in at ramp 11 tomorrow morning, and see if I cant get some crappie or whites. I have never kayaked out there before. I know that immediately to your left in the main river channel there are a bunch of trees sticking up. I was thinking that might be a decent place to start? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You should find some fish around the trees. They do move around though, first trip out I did great, went to the same stump a week later and nothing.

are there any creeks or similar areas like the boat ramp area off of the main river channel? Im hoping this warm weather has them up more shallow.

I went yesterday, and launched at ramp #8. I was surprised that it was still open. The water has gone down below the white line, about 3 ft vertical. At this rate the lake will be at record low level by end of summer.
It was windy, and had to cast into the wind in order to catch a few LM bass off windblown points. The bite was gone by 10:00 AM.
The water was still cold 61 degrees, but it didn't stop the wake and wave makers. This weekend will be nuts with traffic, I bet.

I made it upriver today. I paddled probably a mile or two is assumed? Im not real good on distance with a yak. I hit the water around 9am and didn't get off til 4. I totally lost track of time, because I was catching fish! I caught about a dozen black crappie, kept 6 good sized ones, also managed 4 whites(2 females) a handful of smallerish sized largemouths and also caught two nice keeper cats. I bought 3 dozen live minnows and went stump to stump. The whites were mixed in with the crappie in the trees, I did troll, but never any hits. All in all I would say I did pretty well for myself for the first time upriver on a yak. I did learn to watch your rod tips while jigging in the sticks, broke a rod tip and damn near two other tips. Oh well, Ive been wanting a new setup anyways. I talked to a few people who had some luck on whites about a mile downriver towards the lake. A couple guys I spoke with said they think the run is over upriver. Oh well, crappie and some whites in the trees, that's my report. I will be out there next day that I can get away!!

Take Care

"....upriver....probably a mile or two...."
"....bought 3 dozen minnows...."

I'm curious to know the starting point/location so as to have an idea of where you caught the crappie.
Also, where did you buy the minnows?
Thanks

Minnows were bought at fishermans corner, the catfish ponds. They were open at 745/8ish this morning. Got lucky I guess, I'm not sure of their normal business hours

Ramp #11, that tells me what I was afraid of....
That's pretty shallow water up there.

I saw a few power boats up that way. One guy was in his ski boat tying off to trees. Few smaller boats also, but they were running from the lake I assume.

I fished the same area on the 17 and on the 10 of March we fished for bass with lures and caught about 30 fish each time big bass was a 6 and some 4's and 3's we caught a crappy and a fer stripers but were not targeting them fishing is good up there keep at it. Fish sloe use soft plastics and crank baits.

what kind of plastics and cranks work well? I went out yesterday, launched the yak from ramp 11 and paddled a mile up and drifted a mile down river. I fished the stumps with minnows and jigs. I caught 20 fish but only 3 keeper crappie, no whites and a handful of bass and catfish. I spke with a gentleman who had a nice stringer of crappie, he caughgt them a little further down river towards the deeper trees, 15-20 foot depth. Not much action up in the shallower portion of the river channel. I hit the same trees I pulled 4 keeper crappie out of 3 days ago and nada. Wonder where they went
