Well the little fella did it AGAIN yesterday morning! Every year we take our son fishing on his birthday. Last year when he turned 5 he landed a 25 lb blue cat. Expectations were pretty high yesterday morning and no pressure on Daddy to try to make this year more special than last. Mom, big sister, Grandma and Grandpa were all going and ready to catch some fish. The morning started out pretty slow with just a few box fish landed. Had a couple of big hits, but they failed to hook up. We made one more move before heading in hoping to get another big bite. We put a few more fish in the box before the chaos set it. One of Trip's rods slammed down and stripped about 50 yards of line off before he could get it out of the rod holder. The boy had his hands full with this one. After going around the anchor rope twice and completely under the boat, the tough kid brought the fish to the net completely on his own. I'm really surprised the fish either didn't pull him in or he didn't let go of the rod. The fish weighed just over 41 lbs and measured 43-3/4" in length. It will qualify him for a big fish award from TPWD and also broke the Jr. Angler Catch and Release record blue cat for Lewisville. What an awesome way to celebrate a birthday. Team Catfish rods, Tug-O-War mono and Dead Red Blood Spray made another lifetime memory in my boat. It was a special moment that none of us will ever forget.
