Anyone tried doing this to make their plastics softer? I have tried it with numerous different brands and it seems to make each plastic much much softer. Are there any cons to doing this other than decreasing the life of each plastic?

Hot water is a good way to straighten them, but I don't boil them because it makes them too soft. They do have a little softer texture afterwards.

Have you really noticed a difference? I've done this, but didn't notice a difference. Of course, no real statistical sampling, but didn't seem to matter. Does it for you?

I'm in the progress of boiling a few packs now. Have a tester bag that I haven't touched of each of the same brands. (Yamamoto, Big Bait, Yum, etc...)
I have been putting them in ice cold water as soon as I remove them from the boiling water. They are much softer and have not gone back to their original state.
Even the cheaper less expensive brands are now really soft. Just wondering if there will be any negative effects.

You can boil or even microwave. They will stay soft, especially if you throw them in cold water when they are at the softness you want to retain.
Creme Lures came out with a worm called the Scallywag back in the 80s. Good design, but too hard. Experimented with boiling and microwaving. You have to get the timing/heat level down for each plastic you try to do this to. You can melt them, especially in the microwave. The cold water bath will" set" them at the softer level.
Now go cook

They still taste like plastic not matter how long you cook them.
Thanks, Billy

Just set the bag out on the deck of your boat. The sun will soften them up for you.
