Bowfin and gar are "super predators" that will feed on bass, the bass is usually the #1 predator in a body of water. What I was told made sense, if there are only bass and forage the only predator a bass has is the human.

Pretty sure there were 10+ boats up there last weekend including bass boats, crappy boats, and "yaks"

I heard that too, not sure. My guess is it was a deal where the Yaker was so quiet he startled one and all He!! broke loose.

Yeah... I wonder if a warden has ever decided to hang out at the high lines... One needs to pay the area a visit from time to time... That water is clear so you can see the fish...

A little off topic but I would really like to catch one of these Grinnells. Can anyone give me any specific tips on a good location to try for this? I was going to use live bait, thanks for your help.

The last time we were in the river the grinnell were tearing up speed craws and beaver style soft plastics tx rigged. Fun to catch but not fun to get your hook out. Have pliers handy or just let it slap the side of the boat till it comes unhooked.

Dude, I wish a warden would regularly do that , the bank walkers litter sooooooo much. I also wish they'd hit miller road and rowlett road, and bayview too......just to check for licenses.

I've got the chance to hunt that area a handful of times for hogs. There are 2-3 good size packs and a few really big boars up there. It amazing to me how well they swim.

KP, I ran a small one over in Bart as I was blasting across the flats to the east side he jumped out in front of me as I screamed by the little island. Not pretty.....Not pretty at all. I also tried to drown one I caught up to while he was swimming across the river just above pilot. Those things can hold their breath for ever. I finally gave up and he wriggled free. I am sure was wondering WTH just happend to me.

You talking about a pig or a 'yaker? I know how you feel about the 'yak crowd.

Couple years ago I was running out of the river after dark about 40 mph hour. One hand holding spotlight and one hand driving. I went around a bend there swimming across was a 400lber I had to swerve to miss it. Thank god I did not hit a stump!
