Ok guys, wanting to get an interesting thread going and maybe have a reference point for newbs or anyone looking for projects. What I would like are you personal best or favorite kayak fishing diy's. Rigging or storage or any of that. Id like to avoid having a bunch of duplicates please.

installed a 5 switch control panel on my outback. controlled the live well, 360 light, FF. worked like a champ. it also came with a 12v cigarette plug for night fishing light or a cigarette light.

installed a 30lbs thrust trolling motor on the rudder for my outback. the result was a kayak that can go 5.5 mph for several continuous hours.

Building my own boats from scratch!! Building custom rods for myself and friends, tying my own flies...can't get much more involved with DIY yaking/fishing than that!!

Not complete yet but my buddy and I are rigging out stand up towers and outriggers so we can stand and fly fish. All DIY. Other DIY's for me include trolley, crate, finder install, etc...pretty much the normal stuff. The stand up tower retails for $700 and outriggers retail for $160. We got all materials for 2 yaks for around $300 total. Likely will finish up this week. Cannot wait to get em wet! I can't take full credit though, my buddy did most of the heavy lifting. I played shop assistant.

Need to build more addons ya'll way ahead of me.

Same ole rod holders

I have posted my little boats before and I'm sure everyone is sick of seeing them, but here are some custom rods...

First one is for myself. I love the color green and wanted a custom rod to reflect that. The grips are hand made from craft foam bought at a local craft store. The blank was unfinished so I painted it green.





A rod for my yongest. It was an old Zebco rod I found so I stripped it, painted it blue (per his request) and added the TN handle. The end cap/penny is the year he was born.





Then for my older boy. He wanted a rod to match his HS colors.



I have built other rods...but they are in the hands of other fisherman!


And of course to build this stuff...you need to build your own work bench!!

Jason, that transducer mount is nice!

I was also thinking about doing this! If you night fish, you could put them on the bottom of the boat...fish are attracted to light!
