If the ones on here pissing and moaning would spend more time out there trying to figure them out instead of whining on the TFF about grass they would be more successful on Tyler without grass.

You really should put that pipe down...lol

Those fish don't need grass to spawn shallow, that is nonesense. The West lake has been there since the 1940's and the East lake has been there since the 1960's. There have been MANY more years without grass than with. I caught a 5 lber last year on a bed out in the open in 2.5ft of water with nothing around it. It was 20 feet off the bank in between some boat houses. That is a fact.

We caught most of our fish on Texas rigs in 7-10 feet of water. When we prefished on Thursday we caught most of them on Carolina rigs in about the same depth.

Maybe somebody else found a bunch of fish up on the banks, but we didn't. I think the fact that the cold nights have held most of the fish back worked out for us.

There are a lot of quality fish in the lake. It's just that without the grass they are going to be less predictable to pattern, especially when the spawn is over and they're suspended and chasing shad in open water. I'm no Lake Tyler expert, but that is my opinion.

I just heard the open big bass tournament on Tyler this afternoon was won with a 1.97 lb. fish. Yes, that's a "1".

But congratulations to Rusty...

Fast lane ...I know that's your home lake ..and your baby so to speak...but you put the same teams on Houston cty which is only 2000 acres..70 mph or not..over half the field will have over 19 lbs...but keep on bein happy with Tyler ...that's your opinion . Fact is Tyler hasn't been the same since grass issues...hope it gets better up there in years to come. Tyler can be an awesome fishery no doubt...

Lol that is a fact...
hmmmm wonder if 30 mph north winds, a cold front today and 80 boats on the day before may have contributed? But what do I know.......

or possibly the fact that it's 3 hour tournament, $10 entry, and probably 3 boats showed up.
