I caught two that were both about 7-8lbs, but they were very different. One was a very long and relatively skinny river Bass caught in the Sabinal, the other was a much shorter and fatter Bass I caught in friend's stock tank near Bastrop. Unfortunately I have no pictures of either Bass. Heck I don't even have a picture of my largest Bass 11 1/4 pounds I caught fishing a Bass tournament at Amistad. My pardner had a rule about no cameras and no bananas in the boat. That fish was released before I could get to and back from my car and the camera there.

Caught a 4.1 lb at Fannin. Personal best there....
Had to hog it out of heavy cattails.

Next cast, that intro level 5 weight rod BROKE !

Go figure ......

The ONLY reason to fish with a fly rod in Texas
is to throw a POPPER, casting any other type fly just means you're doing something.

I was pulling in a bluegill on a popper when a 5lb bass hit the bluegill and got hooked.

Nope it was a Two Guys Tournament at Amistad back in the mid 90's. We fished 2 Guys, BAST, and Honey Hole tournaments alot in the 80's and 90's. Lots of fun really. Love flying along in a full loaded tournament rig at 75-80mph from place to place.
