If a low end rod, I would probably rather just do an upgrade and buy a new model. If buying a high end rod, $100 replacement is a heck of a deal.

How in the hell do you guys see this as a good deal? So if your rod breaks, instead of paying JUST $300 for one rod, you end up paying $400. But hey, they send you another stick. . .lol.
It's funny to see people getting ripped off and not knowing it. Then again, if you can afford a $300 fishing rod, you probably don't really mind. Really good point.

Some people are confusing warranty with replacement program. Personally if a guy has a rod and user it longer than a few months then its usually not a manufacturing issue if it breaks. Most reputable rod companies can tell just by looking if it was a defective break or from mishandling or misuse. Also some people fail to grasp that the lighter and more sensitive a rod is the more prone to breakage it is. A lot of people simply overpower a rod and do not use their drag the right way.

rxkid, that rod was babied in the store. I worked there and knew I was going to buy it as soon as I saved up the money. So that wasn't the problem. It just wasn't the rig rod for me. I used it twice and caught a big smallie that tested it at the boat, and a big LM did too. I had my drag set, I thought for the light action of the rod, ut I guess it wasn't set light enough. After the second fish, t broke when my crank wedged under a rock. I didn't even pull on it much at all and it snapped between the reel seat and the first guide. And why did I give all pf my Loomis rods to my son...I already bought em and can't my money back. So when he's ready, he'll have three lifetime warrantied rods to use. And to the other fella who would give me 150 for it, it's my sons now or I'd take you up on it. It cost me 95 bucks on clearance.

I believe there are more rods broke as a result of incurring damage to a blank than from some sort of manufacturers defect. I think lots of times this may occur before it leaves the store and is not easily visible to the unaided eye. Plenty of times anglers damage them without even knowing it and the rod may fail anytime after that.
As far as Loomis expeditor service goes, it's not for me. I never am in a situation where I have to have the replacement immediately. Personally I don't really believe many others are either, it's just that Loomis, IMO, is capitalizing on the instant gratification many anglers want.
