The fact that u are not only competing against the other anglers but against the fish on a giving day to figure out a pattern to catch the 5(or 3) biggest fish u can possibly catch! The preparation before the tournament... The night before when u visualizing and the 1/2 he before actual take off when ur stomach is in ur throat! It's my addiction!

The competition and the thrill of winning. I don't care if its for $100 or $20,000. Winning is almost everything.

My thoughts exactly. Then on the drive home, Monday morning quarterbacking myself. Always try to learn something after a day on the water.

I've always loved competition, but at my age if I try to throw a fastball past you I'll probably end up with rotator cuff surgery. I've met some great friends through fishing including my current bass club buddies.

Besides, I just love to fish. After I had caught about 25 straight Carolina rig fish one day my wife asked me, "How many do you have to catch before it's not fun any more?"

I said, "I have no idea, but I can tell you I've never gotten there yet."

Do you think you could ever catch enough to make it not fun anymore?

Shotgun start is absolutely awesome but I have to say when you land that big fish in the boat.

griping about it on tff after...sorry, couldn't resist. I only fish club tourneys, and I do that because I like competition--even if it isn't for more than bragging rights.

I think bass tournaments may be one of the best activities ever for multiple reasons.

1. fishing - fishing by itself is great. we love to do it even when not competing.

2. competition - the drive to win, do well, whatever your goals.

3. gambling - I know guys don't like to call it that, but that's exactly what it is like poker. everyone puts in the pot and house take their cut, the most skilled that day take back out of the pot.

4. racing - by itself it is a common popular sport, although not a huge part of tournament bass fishig, it still adds another element getting to hole first or just the need for speed.

5. collecting some of us like to collect things, and no better collecting activities than various baits, rods, and reels.

6. chicks dig it - every event there are hot bikini chicks just everywhere you have to lock your doors all the groupies won't leave you alone.

Funny my wifes says the same thing to me... I guess the day the next fish isn't a thrill like the first fish I'll stop...

Danny Brauer said it best during the Major League Fishing... I never get tired of catching these fish...
