I am taking my fiance fishing Saturday morning. I have one place in mind. I would like to know how the atmosphere is there at the Lewisville fishing barge, and if it is a comfortable place to fish.

Well had to go back and fix it. I looked back at it and it didn't make sense.

The people are friendly at the barge, they allow smoking inside the barge, so it is a smoky environment, you could always fish outside the enclosed barge.

I've taken my girlfriend there several times. Everyone there is fun and has a great time. I'd heard alot of bad things about the place, but found them all to be completely untrue. I really had a good time there and go back when the bug hits me but it's too windy to take out my boat...like today.

when i was a kid in the late 80's and early 90's, it was awesome. many memories. haven't been in a long time. i've heard that the whites and crappie are biting right now up there.

One of my best memories from growing up is stealing my dad's boat in the middle of the winter and riding from Arrowhead park to the barge and back. Took forever, froze my butt off and got in all kinds of trouble. Did we catch anything? nope...forgot our poles, haha.

Whats the best bait to use there? live or jigs and can you buy live minnows there?

Live minnows for crappie and jigs for whites.

Just saw this post. I work out there. I would say its a cool place to fish. Yes we do sale minnows out there 2.50 a dz. I would say its 50/50 right now for crappie minnows vs jigs. If you can jig it will save you some on minnows. But if you are just going to stay in one spot I would just stick with minnows.

It's funny about how it works out there you are just sitting there next thing you know you are talking to someone as if you have known them for years. Not going to say you don't run in to some bad eggs from time to time but they keep to there selfs most of the time.
