I will say its more sensitive and can make a 49 dollar All star think its a cara with the extra money spent on line you could buy the cara Bingo But with mono on a cara it will not be as sensitive as the all star with flouro.

Use Seguar tie a double uni knot or san Diego jam. And then have fun. I can almost never break of 20lb invizix with a double uni. Man I hope not with 20# line? The heaviest mono I use is 17, and I could put that on my anchor if I needed to. There are just not enough positives to outweigh the negatives of this stuff, I don't know why everyone can't just come to grips with it.

Me experience with fluoro has gone like this:
Started out trying several brands Berkeley Vanish, Stren, and Vicious. Memory was bad with some and I had problems with breaking off hooks sets. I did notice alot more sensitivity than I had with mono. I was about ready to go back to Mono when I started using Seguar InvisX. I still will break off a fish on a hookset once in a blue moon but it is always because I havn't retied after several fish or hanging something abrasive.
I use Seguar Red Label for cranking and its amazing how I can read the bottom and the extra depth I can get with heavier line.
I use InvisX for everything else except mono for topwaters and braid for frogs and umbrella rigs.
25 lb. InvisX will get the same amount of bites as 15 lb. mono in clear water.
There are drawbacks to using fluorocarbon but your kidding yourself if you think there are not a lot of advantages as well.

I have no doubt that flouro is more sensitive and therefore offers one advantage. However, sensitivity is only one variable, and if all variables are taken into account, I just don't see it as a superior product. Unless you're a pro, cost matters, and between the difference in cost per yard along with the more frequent re-spooling required, flouro is 5 to 10 times more costly. Couple that with the cold weather brittleness, reduced knot strength, etc, it just doesn't make sense to the average fisherman.

I agree completely with original op. I swore to myself no floro this year. I love the feel but to much headache. Think about a micro nick in ur line mono stretches to absorb that nick floro less stretch more brakes. I got one spool of invisx left after that I'm done. I do like that sensitivity though.

For the guys that have no problems How often do you guys change you floro Good question. I use 8 and 10 mostly. Berkley 100% and I retie at least once per trip. I usually fish it at least 10 trips before thinking about changing it. I keep a spool in the boat and usually will only think about changing it out at home if the spool gets too low or if the line starts displaying signs that would have me worry. I started testing flouro lines but when I started using this line I quit. If there is a better line I have not seen it.

It's funny because I use it for about 3/4 of my applications and don't have any of those problems +1

Usually I change mine out every 3 months....or when funds allow. I am into month 5 right now and have had no problems. I do not completely refill every spool. I remove anywhere from a 1/2 to 3/4 of each spool depending on preferred presentation and then tie a blood knot and refill. Save lots of $$ that way. I use line conditioner and memory is not a problem for me.

Most guys that complain about fluorocarbon use or try brand that is made in USA. I know it's sad to say but if you buy any brand that's made in USA for some reason it's terrible. Made in Japan brands are 2x better if not 3! I have fish fluorocarbon for last 4 years and will only use mono on top water baits. Sensitivity, abrasion resistance, knot strength, and cast ability are by far better for me with fluorocarbon. I say whatever helps you boat em use it!!

I rarely have any breakage since I went to Gamma -- plus you need to use good equipment with it- I use Gamma co-polymer for all other applications- Gamma cost more but after 50 years of fishing I know it doesn't cost to pay more for something if you get more

Because Flouro has a better feel in most applications therefore feeling more bites. I only use mono for some top waters, everything else is flouro except for the few things I use with braid

What about a co-polymer like pline...... isnt it as tough as mono but as sensitive and invisible as floro I switched to P-Line and Seaguar 2 years ago because of my mono's problems with abrasion. I fish a lot of timber, rip rap, etc. and the mono was not doing well. Have not had any problems since the switch. Also, use the Palomar [sp?] 100% with no issues.

I haven't had problems with flouro breaking. Whenever it does it is because the line is frayed somewhere and I was too lazy to retie. Never had a problem with knot breaking. I usually use braid with several feet of flouro. And one cranking reel with all flouro. I love it. I use Vanish
