Well, just happened to call Deep Sea Headquarters in Port A. & they had 1 cancellation on their saturday 24 hour tuna trip, so I booked it! Kinda' like last month for me, a spur-of-the-moment opportunity so I'm a little excited about it. Hoping to catch more this time with better equipment & better prepared.

I'll report back with the "catch"!

Thanks guys. I only boated 6 1/2 tuna (shark bit 1 exactly in half one bite), lost another 6-8, and 1 20+ lb. amber jack. Halfway through the night a tuna smoked my jigmaster reel so I had to use the boat equipment and that wasn't as good. I'm better prepared this time, so looooook out TUNA!

Dang, Port A is smoking the Galveston boats right now it seems. Did y'all fish off of rigs or shrimp boats?

Hey guys, I'm not really sure how often these boats go out. Just have to call & ask what schedules they have. I know Deep Sea HQ. only takes 15 fishermen, so that is nice for fishing room. Last trip we first went to a wreck & caught out Amber-jack. Then captain spotted a anchored shrimp boat cleaning their catch & pulled right up to 'em. Pounded 50 tuna in 1 hour. Then went further to a rig & drifted it 3 times until increasing bad weather conditions chased us back to shore. 107 tuna total in boat.

Venice. Every Tuna needs to go there at least once.

WOW what a grueling & tiring trip. Well, I have to admit this time the wind, waves, hours, & fish really kicked my azz! Pretty rough seas the whole trip, with legitamate 7+ footers by morning. After the worst birdsnest in my reel still tangled, losing all my jigs to sharks & 'cuda stealing my hooked tunas, & dealing with the bad weather-- whew, I'm buggered. I did boat 5 tuna, lost a dozen, & 1 big 30 pound amber jack which took up 30 minutes of my night fighting. 2 big 20 pound georgeous red snappers that were turned back. The boat brought back a total of 60 tuna & 2 aj's. You can pm me if you want inside info. thanks & enjoy picture.

Sometimes the harder won fish mean the most. I am on the first trip in march, and I am just planning it on being cancelled. If it goes it will be a bonus. If it doesn't it will be four in a row. My Wife has already OK'ed my first 56hr if this one doesnt go.

If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.

That's their usual destination on 24hr trips.
