Ok I guess I need to tell how it was done

My son is here for the week and we started out Crappie fishing. We caught a couple of crappie and they quit biting. I picked up my brom stick that has 60# braid and a wench on it/. Tied to the end of the line I keep a swim bait on that mimicks a dying crappie. After about 2 or 3 tries I had it by the boat with about 8 feet of line out and was swishing it around on the surface and she came up and ate it, then the fight was on. My son was busy digging the next out and I was trying to keep her from going into the nearby brush pile. Finally she came up and I had about 6 foot of line out and Mark, my son, slid her into the net. I wasnt sure how big she was until I picked her out of the net, thenI knew she was over 10 and when I put her on the scales she hit 13.5 lbs. I put her in the live well, a shot of Catch and Release and off to Oakridge we went, I called my wife on the way in and had her call Berry at Oakridge to tell him I was coming in with her. He met us at the ramp and we put the boat on the trailer and went right to the scales, she hit 13.11 lbs and Berry slipped her into the holding tank and covered the tank with a sheet of plywood to keep it dark so and not to stress her any more than needed, Called TPW and they took about an hour to get there. They checked to see if she had been caught before and hse hadn't. They transfered her in a bag to the travel tank and has her long enough to get pics and she is on her way. I am happy to say I was glad that my son was with me and its a memory of a lifetime

Very cool story Mark!

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Wow. Cool story. I am intrigued by the swim bait that looks like a wounded crappie.
