Thanks for the report. I will wait 2 weeks or so before I return to the lake. Congrats on the bass!

I fished Canyon all day yesterday(thursday). I talked to 4 different boats/fisherpersons, and they were as puzzled as I was. I caught 2 small bass in the morning(jig/craw) and one small one in the afternoon(weightless wacky worm). The water temp started at 57, and warmed up to 60 in the afternoon(in shallows). On my graph, I saw ONE small ball of shad all day. I tried upriver also, NOTHING. I'm telling myself, try Medina....?? But, I'm also thinking that this wide-spread problem is due to low water levels plus the roller coaster water temps.
Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.

Stick with Canyon. The lake is fishing better that it ever has. Maybe it was just an off day yesterday.

There are a lot of fish in Canyon according to the stocking reports. Just have to find them. It fishes great in the fall. Most of my bites come in 8-20 ft. I also tend to catch small mouth at those depths along with LMBs. Medina is hurting right now due to low water levels. If we get decent spring rains and a tropical system in the late summer Medina will turn on big time. Both lakes can produces large numbers of 12-14" fish. I have managed 20+ fish days in both lakes with enough keepers to make it interesting. But those are rare.

I was hoping to hit canyon this weekend. But looks like the weather is not going to permit. I stick to the river channel tree line on the river and pulled some nice lmb,and smallies from there. Places were there shallow water close to deep water along the bank with the river channel close by.

Fishing is tough around here and usually is. Choke gets better when it's had the chance to fill up and get some fresh nutrients back in it, but until then don't expect great fishing anywheres close to our area.

Don't give up on canyon! I has some good fish. It's not easy to figure out but once you do you can't help but laugh how so many people dislike. FYI 15-30ft
