Why cant I catch anything on stink bait during the winter time? Lets say I wanted to target some channel cat tonight, are they up a creek or in deep water or what? I was giving it a shot this weekend and I couldnt catch any...

. Why cant I catch anything on stink bait during the winter time? Lets say I wanted to target some channel cat tonight, are they up a creek or in deep water or what? I was giving it a shot this weekend and I couldnt catch any... I'm curious too. I'm not good at cold water channel cats

I was giving it a shot this weekend and I couldnt catch any... I think as the water temp is cooler the scent doesn't carry as well as when the water is warm.

When they are spawning I open a bottle of wine, play some Barry, tell them their pretty. Skins just fall off.
if that doesn't work, fresh shad.

I have been fishing 6 or 7 times and not caught anything. I used shad, perch, bluegill, chicken liver, worms, minnows, sure shot, shrimp, I cant catch anything. I fished cedar creek, joe pool, lake worth, grapevine, lewisville, the trinity river in 4 different places..... Where is a good place for someone to go fishin when they are having really bad luck?

I use to fish after the ice melted in kansas 35-45 degree water with sonnys dip bait. And fish real tight to structure. Trees, big rocks etc.

There's a catfish farm near mesquite that I bet you could catch a couple!!

Go to Squaw Creek. I hear the channels out there school up like piranhas on a fat guy in a bad jungle movie.

When the channel catfish are spawning the bait is not a critical element as there are a TON of baits the will work.
More important is being in the right place and having the right presentation. Ditto......Ditto.....+fresh free shad..
