I went yesterday with my son. We caught 3 in the first 30 minutes, than 1 in the next 4 hours. Brush piles and shallow around a bridge. If there's grass I don't know where it is. That lake always is tough on me.

Only consistent fishing I have found is docks, but with the lake low that isn't probably that good now.

The home owners associations ruined that lake 20 yrs ago by killing all the grass out of it. There are giants in there but very tuff lake to fish. I have caught them on the docks and around the Marinas, and around the rocks by the light house. When fishing the docks pay attention to a couple of things to help you catch more fish.
1. Look for the docks that have rod holders on them, they almost always have a brush pile on them.
2. If you see a dock with Cobb webs, fish it, it hasn't seen allot of pressure and hasn't been fished lately. Good luck!

Also look for drain pipes coming out of the bulk heads. Have had success by flipping under them where the water has washed out a hole. You would be suprised how man of these pipes have a fish under them.

Me and my cousin fished Conroe on 2/12/13 for 4 hrs between 2:30-6:30 and caught 10. 4 over 17in. All caught in coves around boat docks where the water was calm... Got them to hit lipless crank baits and and soft plastics

I'm sure there are better lakes, but I have lived here for 8 years and have enjoyed fishing it. I fish from kayak and the bank and have good-bad days like any lake. Walked the bank tonight around #12 green at Walden for a hour and caught four fish, biggest 3 lbs. Some days more and bigger fish, other days less, but overall I catch something every time. There may be better lakes but Conroe is not as bad as some people portray it. Texas rig or shaky head soft plastics, zoom flukes or crank bait work fine.

This might help, depending on where you're going. In general terms if you know how to fish other lowland reservoirs, apply that on Conroe:

Had one of the guys who had scheduled a time to test run my Bass Cat I'm selling cancel. Had an hour to kill before the next guy so jumped out and on my 9th cast caught a 6.4lber in 3 feet of water. She had already spawned and was probably on or near the nest.

Raining today but I guarantee the bite is good if you don't mind dodging storms.

Never heard the redbud signal? More reliable than the turtles in the back of the creeks, although that one is pretty good too!

Another cat. Had owned Triton and Rangers before and heard a lot about the cats so I bought a used one to see how I like it. I love it and am buying the same Cougar FTD.

Placed an ad on bass boat central last week (and on the trading post here) and pretty sure it is the best price around for an '08. Have one person taking the serial #'s to the bank in the morning so most likely sold. Wanted to get on with the new one in time for March/April fishing.
