Jerry nice site. The only thing I did not see who was tying the jigs. Are the jigs from several suppliers or just one?

1) Homepage. Top left corner. It reads HAND TIED JIGS and to the right is the graphic of the crappie. **I'd like to see your name or the name of the business above the words HAND TIED JIGS. I have no idea who I am dealing with as I navigate the website. I'm sure some people would like to have a telephone number below the HAND TIED JIGS so they do not have to search for your telephone number deeper into the site.

2) Homepage. Far right margin. I'd like to see the removal of Sale Jigs, Featured Jigs and Recently Viewed Jigs. **It bothers me for a few reasons #1-The images are much smaller it detracts from the flow of the page. #2-Speaking of flow. In our country we read from left to right and with the smaller fonts and images you're requiring me to read those from top to bottom. #3-It feels like too much repetition and could make for a cleaner and smoother flowing Homepage.

3) I would suggest that you direct viewers to click on the SHOP button to see the complete product line. Some average computer users may see your site and think the HOMEPAGE is your complete offering.

4) You might want to include information related to what model and size of hook is used in each of the weights offered. Some people make purchase decisions based on hook model and size. It could save you time in having to repeatedly having to answer that type of question.

Other than feedback already presented by others I will leave my comments at those few items for the time being.

Jerry, it seems you got Mr. IT involved...

He makes a valid point on #1- INTRODUCE YOURSELF -Matthew's site covered this point very well

#2- I thought this was part of the software program you were using to build the website and couldn't be changed as he has described. This part doesn't bother me as much as crappiejign.

#3 - I am an average computer user...I thought the same thing but that is what made it easy for me to navigate your website..when I look at your website, this is the part that makes me feel like a kid in a candy store...please don't change this feature! Regardless of how wrong it may be...professional wise!!!

#4 - This issue can be resolved with a simple comment in the heading about jig weight offerings, if you feel the need to alter your site.

Message to other forum users...jerry asked for help, the help that is being offered is constructive (not destructive)...I am fairly sure Jerry understands that we are sincerely trying to help him create a good website, that is easy to read/navigate/understand/purchase his product offerings from...we mean no harm or disrespect to Jerry or his website...indeed, our intentions are quite the opposite....so please refrain from any snide or negative comments you may have, at least until the website is up and running then you can decide for yourself after you see the finished product....what we are doing is a normal back room IT function, we just ended up doing it in the open section....and Jerry understands that...we just hope you do too.

Ok - here we go....

Griff - thanks.

crapicat - The taxes and shipping thing will probably be one of the last decisions. I really appreciate the insight ... I hadn't thought of it that way, before. Once everything else is ironed out I'll come up with two versions and see which is most popular. Perhaps I could put the tax and shipping explanation at the top or just below the checkout function. I also appreciate your comments about the website endeavors. You hit the nail on the head. I'm going to have 7 hours of work and 6 hours of school before today's out so the input saves me.....it's the only sure fire way to design a site in an optimal manner...

Jign - I agree about the homepage name and/or phone number. Until I get my logo made I don't see a point in trying to add it. I really value such a strong insight. If I add more vendors (original intention) we'll establish a contact policy that corresponds with program. Until then I'll have my number beside the logo.
As for the right side elements... I felt they were too.... overbearing. Too many of them. I'll leave weekly sale and last viewed, but relocate them to the bottom. Not sure whether I'll leave the sale items at the bottom. Remember, the "Last Viewed" will not be a first impression, on a new customer. Until you've actually viewed items there's no sign of it. I think it will be a continual struggle, fine tuning the sidebar. Every set up will annoy some people.. bang
THANKS for the shop button thing. I've added a slide to the front of the carousel.
As for the product info... you can select each jig weight from the dropdown. When you consider pillhead, standard, walleye, #2, 4, and 6.... there's a lot of options. I don't wanna clutter things... that's why I have this:
Quote:
If you have a preference on hook size or jighead style please specify when you place your order. If no preference is indicated we’ll use our favorite for the jig you select.
I'm very open to suggestions as to where/how this could be improved... hmmm

gotreal - thanks a lot!

txbox Thanks - vise broke, waiting on new one to finish product line. I'm guessing within 10 days.... not 100% on when. College too....never know what'll come up.

wscott - thanks!

Jerry, place the tax/shipping info at "the checkout counter", where it needs to be...people are used to dealing with those issues at checkout, so there is no need to confuse them by locating them somewhere else...Remember, a good salesman (in this case, website) leads customers to the checkout counter!

RE: the website endeavors, no point in having a well intentioned forum member mistake the IT process for a slam on you (nice guy that you are)...it detracts from the process...once the website has been tweaked and is up and running...well, forum members can see the end result...and it should be better for them than the test version.

Ok Jerry, you can handle the tax/shipping issue with remorse/humor...as follows: Step right up to the checkout counter!! Now for the bad news, tax is gonna add another 8.25% more to the cost of your purchase, (if you live in Texas) because the state has to get their share of every Texans purchase!! Really though, if you think about it that just means we don't have any state income tax, plus we are some of the luckiest people on alive! If you don't live in Texas, well then I don't have to charge you taxes, so maybe you too can feel lucky like just like us Texans.

Just a thought....something to get people to realize taxes must be paid one way or another....later
