Wow, your line has a short life span.

I was thinking the same thing......unless you're tournament fishing for real money most of the stuff I read is funny! I know at least two of my reels have 9 month old mono on them

I thought I would ask before I spooled it on 18 reels.
I normally use a 14# trilene XT and 20# trilene XL, but Academy did not have it in bulk spools. With no time to get to BPS I bought the Suffix Tritanium Plus in 14 and 20.

At this point I guess it will get used.

I do not use Big Game until the water warms up.

thanks for the replies.

What???? You've got to be kidding or you bought it from under a trash dumpster! Toughest most manageable line I've ever used!

Interesting thread. I never was an authority on mono. My limited knowledge is Big Game for price and respool often keeps line fresh. Recently tried Trilene XL. Thought I liked it, but the hook set was like dragging a sponge through the water.

I fish 3 tournament trails...change my braid once a year, my mono every 2-6 months and my flouro at least once a month.
If you have 9 month old mono, I don't care what brand it is, it has to have miles of memory!

Hey Syd, it's not bad line for mono applications. Bought some at Gandar Mtn. couple weeks ago on discount and for the price I am well pleased for regular fishing. They might still have some marked down Green Tag.

Since I don't have a boat at the moment I've cut down tourney fishIng but I still fish a lot. I change my line how you just stated also. For my flouro I have to because I back it with mono and after re tying It gets to short anyway. By the way that 18" fish is a TOAD haha

I back all of my reels with big game mono because it's cheaper and then spool with my tourney lines. I beleive this is the most economical way to keep line cost down and make a new spool last.

Thanks for the comp. on that 18" bass, I think that one put up the best fight of any 5 pounder I have ever caught. That is a bass from Lake Victor Braunig, a power plant lake just south of San Antonio and all the bass in there look like that one! That is a great lake to fine tune flipping and pitching on, the bass are always in the reeds.

I've been a P-Line, Suffix guy for many years. Tried Bass Pro Excel for the first time last year and really like it. For the money it can't be beat. Soft, smooth, and limp...yep that's me!
