I'm going out there this weekend with the kids. Anyone having any luck out there lately? It's only my second time on Sandlin so it's more of a scouting trip but any info would help. Thanks, chad

We had a great weekend. Fished both days from 9:00-2:00. Saturday the wind was pretty bad and we only caught 9. Sunday we caught about 25. The weekend total for keepers was 20 crappie, 2 cats and 1 sand bass. We caught everything on minnows in 40 fow between the damn and the railroad bridge. We stayed at the State Park in one of the cabins. They are about 12+20 with 2 bunk beds. Community bathrooms and showers. The park staff was very friendly and the park was great. I would highly recommend staying there. We fished the trout pond at the park Saturday afternoon and caught 20 trout in about 1 hour. My boys had a blast and are wanting to go back ASAP. Thanks for the tips any good luck this spring.

Chad, Did you see a big Ranger with a Honda on it in the same area as you were fishing? My buddy's boat with a new Lowrance on it and I was trying to help him learn a little more about it, blind leading the blind.

DLALLER, Didn't get close enough to anyone to check out what kind of boat they had. My brother and dad talked to some guys Saturday. They said they caught a lot Friday but were not having as much luck sat. We were in a V-hull tracker blue and grey. Most of the time I was on the boat I was helping the kids and making sure they stayed in the boat. We never did find a spot with a lot of fish on it just 1 or 2 per tree. Just enough action to keep the kids interested. How did y'all do? How do you like that HB?

Chad, I am almost sure it was you then in the Tracker. We fished only about 15 minutes or so till the wind got up and we moved to the railroad levee to get out of the wind. After it calmed down we moved back into the area you were at. We spent most of our time playing with his Lowrance. Only caught 4-6 and threw them back. The 1 or 2 on a spot has been the pattern for the last several days, I think they are beginning their move toward the shallows.

TBox, not sure if you are referring to me or the OP, but I tried drifting down near the dam on CS with a combo of minnows and jigs, but the bite was very erratic.. Took a shot on the other end in 12-14 ft of water under the bridge and caught a nice mess of cats and crappie..
