You need to measure the fish laying flat with the mouth closed. And you can pinch the tail to get the maximum length

the lake fork record is 17" and 3.19 lbs caught in 1995.I caught the crappie in the picture above on nov.15 2012 not knowing what the record was and we cleaned her. I knew when I posted the picture that I would get the same comments that my friend Stubby got on his. I have read the forum for several years and never posted any pictures but after reading Stubbys post I thought I would post this picture. I fish Fork most every week with my friends Danny aka Slab Daddy, Stubby, Dennis, Larry, Jeff, Ronnie, Mark and Slade. I guess if we were someone that posted all the time, Stubby and I would have got the man "great job or great fish" but i guess for the people that never caught one that size are just haters.Would post a picture of 150 slabs caught by 3 of us on Feb 14 & 15 which this fish was a part of but no since getting slamed on any more post. thank you Jim

Most people are just jealous. Dont worry about their comments.
That is a heck of a crappie. If you dont mind me asking, can you PM me what depth you are finding them at?

Just be ready to have some proof when you throw the word record around on here. Gets some folks' knickers in a twist! Easy way to fix this, POST MORE! I know I love seeing pics of people's catch and technique! You could probably teach us something if you're catching slabs like that!

I think the next state record might come out of fork, great fish man, keep on posting, dont let a few get u too riled up.
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Its a great fish and congrats on your catch. Most of us on here love seeing pictures of others catches and are supportive of them.We also like to hear the stories behind the catches. So dont stop posting and sharing and remember most of the replies are in good jest!

That is a great fish. Anybody on here knows that fish is over 3 lbs and that makes it a fish worth showing off. The only problem I can see is I wasn't out there with yall.
