I cobbled this one together...a Lutra Laker designed by David Nichols in Austin. It's great for rivers, small lakes, and especially the bay.

Bottom line if you do not have access to a really fishy boat dock or private pond/tank get some type of boat. It just opens up a whole other world as far as fishing is concerned. I have had Power bass boats(costly startup and costly to keep) a flat bottom jon boat(stability issues, small water only)but have to say a sit on top yak has provided the perfect platform for my needs. I stress "my" as perhaps your experiences may differ.
I started out in a 10' pescador and I fished 317 days last year in it. It floated, keep me dry, provided some very big bass. But sitting in a plastic boat all day became very uncomfortable to say the least.
I saved up some tourney winnings and I was able to get a Wilderness Systems Ride 11.5. Its bigger, provides a stand N fish platform and can take just about any weather I care to be out in. As far as Higher end boats go, the stability is 2nd only to stand up paddle yaks that cost much more. Its very reasonably priced!

Nice boats guys. I too started with a buster boat and now have an 18' Alumacraft with center console. Great boat but sometimes too big for some of the places i like to fish. I appreciate all of the replies. Thinking of getting something else smaller. Will more than likely look for another buster boat

Not sure yet, but I may be letting my Buster go here pretty quick. If you're not in a huge hurry, holler at me. It's about a year old and in nice shape.

If dhogdog doesn't take you up on it I may.It looks expensive but lake and pond ready. I have been looking at them and none of them have trailers. I'm not sure I want to haul a boat in my bed.

I have had a couple boats. I had a 14' Jon boat in my late teens early 20's back when I was a bass fisherman. I have no known pics of that boat. Later in life I bought an '82 Tracker. It was a fine boat but I was still bass fishing. I never got that bug for bass fishing like I did in my youth. I sold that boat and bought a Benelli because killing ducks really came first. I wish I had that boat now. Here is a pic of it.

My Ocean Kayak Drifter gets me where I want to go. Mainly offshore for where the big ones hang out. I also use it around the Dallas area when I need a paddle fix.

That is a great looking little boat! I don't think "cobbled together" is the right term, it looks very will built.

Click the links below to see ours. You can also visit our facebook pages to see more photo's. They are GoFroggin and The Frog Boat. Fit in bed of pick up. Untippable, Unsinkable, Stable, Easy to Store (stand upright in garage), if you can walk to the water you can fish. IMO and experience these provide far more benefits to the avid angler than all others.

I don't always catch fish, but when I do, I prefer Dos Hybrids
