At your price range... I would go with Temple Fork Outfitters. A lot of rod for your buck. Not to mention great customer service.

Depending on where you live you can get a great custom made rod for that price range around the north houston area by Waynes Rod and Reel. Castaway would be my choice out of the 2 mentioned though. I think they make the best rod for mainstream rods. My 2 cents.

CastAway has been a part of my fishing arsenal since 1990, I think Falcon makes a fantastic rod but I will never put CastAway as a 2nd choice, PM if you decide on CastAway and need some info on rods, may can help on the purchase $$$ also.

I own 7 falcon Cara T7 series rods in various models and absolutely love them..I recently got a great deal on a new castaway skeleton drop shot rod that I will put to use for the first time this weekend.. Having thrown nothing but the Falcon Cara's for the past 2 years I have no complaints..the sensitivity on the Cara's is second to none and the customer service at Falcon is great!!

falcon and castaway both good.Castaway makes nice upper end stuff if you want to pay that much ,but their lower end china stuff I dont want.Falcon overall is hard to beat.Academy used to sell usa made castaways but now only falcons if they still have those. If you shop the rod riot at academy expecting a discount then Id stick with Falcon for sure.
