My clients from Dallas caught a monster spoonbill today! Weighed in at 80.2 pounds and will probably be the Grand Lake record! They caught several others too!

They are a zoo plankton eater only. They filter feed so they don't eat trash. They are excellent on the grill!! No bones at all in them!

Very nice. But that is one weird looking fish. How do you catch them?

Have to snag them - won't take any kind of bait or lure.
That's one fine spoonbill, a lot bigger than anything I've ever got. Hope it's back in & growing.

Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

Do you catch and release those spoons most of the time? Are they plentiful but just hard to catch? They look like a cross between a catfish and a shark wink
