Well we got out to Welch park at daylight and me and my wife hard a really hard time trying to find ghost minnows.THere was hardly any wind so I had a feeling seining bait was gonna be tough. We seined probably for 30 mins and only got 20 ghost minnows. We fished for 1 hour with only one good bite so I told her lets try rocky creek so we went out to rocky and man it looked good so we seined to try and find more ghost minnows and again no wind and no bait.Water was like glass and I knew it was gonna be rough we fished and caught one big female white bass full of eggs and three catfish. We lost two of what seemed like whites on some kind of structure on the bottom and the bites where lite.

Looks like that South wind is going to be blowing tomorrow so may be a tough paddle back from the Yegua. Better eat your Wheaties, kayakers!

I fished the Yegua today via kayak Nails State park. It was a long day yet I'm not complaining. Launched at 8:30am against a stiff North wind. I caught nothing till I got past the major tree block I think that's about a 1/2 mile up from Wolf Pond. Long story short I worked hard for 9 solid whites and a goo. They didn't seem to be stacked like they were the last two weeks it was one or two at a time. Got the yak back on the truck at 4:30pm. I said this before I think the whites are still coming into the creek from the lake yet at a very slow rate. Great day on the water, let's hope we get an inch or two of rain in Lexington or Dime Box....Lawton

Thanks for the report. Sounds like the fishing is going to be tough tomorrow. Hopefully there'll be a bunch of us out there and we'll get enough fish for dinner.

I will be at Newmans tomorrow fishing my secret hole. If we don't catch fish there then they are not supposed to be caught. The last time we went we had 15 and no one else had any. Hope to at least copy that trip but hopefully more.

I'll be waiting at the Pavilion to see what you-all catch.. I'm sure Sam and Jared will find a few as will many others if they keep at it long enough.. Fish deeper and around and in the brush. I wish I could help find the fish but I'll be very busy at the park.. Fishing forecast looks OK but not the best http://www.weather.com/outlook/recreation/outdoors/fishing/77802?dayParam=2

Ben, I may go grab the boat and head out to the lake this afternoon and check out some spots including the bankers at Birch Creek. If so, I'll run up to Nails and say "howdy" as usual. Depending on wind of course. Thought I saw wind at 10-20 forecast today.

Off topic a bit... 4 more weeks and then.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5b3NsCaqAQhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eh_K5Czm17IThey design and build rods. A typical creek or Summer time river rod is 9-10ft.(That wouldn't work walking Nails or the Yegua!) Loaded with 6-12lb. test. The rod is like a shock absorber. You have to use light to very light line in the Summer-early Fall since the water levels are low and very clear. Fighting a large King or Steelhead takes a bit of time. Just found out that Greg, person in these videos, will be leaving/moving out of state. There goes my hunting&fishing contact when I move.
