Fish was caught on a black salty(live bait) in 29 feet of water off of 515 bridge. Also he had his pole Carolina rigged. I was with the fish for about an hour today and TPWD fizzed it and she went down to the bottom. One thing i will aay is I am sick of taking these beautiful fish out of Fork just for the program. Its really not smart for us to take 250 sharelunkers out of Fork, plus alot of them die, but hey...what can we do!!! anyhow, Beautiful fish, 28 inches long to!!! Congrats Richard!!! First off nice fish but I do agree here but it is his he caught it and can do what he wants.

You know, I try to stay out of these debates.
But here goes.
I don't use live bait. I'm a catch and release fisherman.
But what this angler did was perfectly legal and perfectly ethical. Heck, whether I like it or not, if he had wanted to fry this bass up, that's his perogative under the law. And it's that Texas law (regulations) - not to mention TPWD and its programs - that has helped produce a state with arguably the best bass fishing in the nation.
So give this guy a break for gosh sakes. And don't tell me that you're a catch and release guy and you don't hurt the resource and blah-blah-blah. How many of the fish that we release eventually die...even if we're not around to see it.
My two cents worth.
Congrats on the fish of a lifetime!
Well,uh,then, why don't you fish with live bait? Why do you fish, only, catch and release? The fish has a better chance of survival(97-100%),if it's,immediately, released. Live bait fish have a,lesser, chance from the gitgo, because, they are, usually, hooked deeper. Deep fish have less of a chance than shallow fish. Live bait, deep fish, with a shrelunker ride, have even less of a chance. That fish is on it's side it the tub. So,thanks for your, conflicted,"reasoning" and "insight",but, that even worth,your,.02.

Lol. Just trying to slow down your reading rate so your comprehension and retention would be better.

Regardless of how he caught it this does prove Lake Fork still has a few DD left in it There has been a lot of discussion on here the last year of how Fork is Dead. I think as Mr Cam has been saying for a year now Fork is not dead

This bickering is pointless. Give it a rest. Congratulations to the man on the fish of a lifetime.

No,just a different perspective, based on extreme success with pretty women and fish. I'm not gonna kill a beautiful fish for a photo op and a chance to get my picture on the cover of Rolling Stone. Just defending myself. Don't you believe in personal defense? Have a nice evening.

FZ1 and txmasterpo - I understand and appreciate what you are saying. I don't think I'll ever have to make the SAL decision. However, after reading your posts, I think if I did have the good fortune to catch the "big one", I would C-P-R. Hope I got the commas in the correct places. Again, many congrats to the guy that caught this "big one".

FZ1, it hurts me to read your sentence structure. And why must you always bash a monster bass being caught. I'd turn it in to SAL for sure, as would most people. Nice fish btw. And you can tell by the way he's holding it that he knew how to take care of it and actually cared about the fish enough not to hold it wrong and risk breaking its jaw.
