I fish 10 lb suffix mono on all of my cranking rods and as long as you have your drag set properly it is all you need. Very abbrasion resitant, very low memory and will get a crank as deep as it will go.

Depends on the crankbait for me and if I want it to run deep or shallow. Square bill and lipless baits I prefer 15# McCoys and will move up to 17# if the cover is extremely heavy or ripping the bait thru grass. Most other crankbaits I will use 12 lb Seaguar but will sometimes throw 14#-15# fluoro if the cover is a little heavier. McCoys is strong line but I feel like Seaguar is very strong and abrasion resistant too.

I'm with Mr. Rains on this one. I've been using some for about a month now and I'm very impressed. I usually use Big Game for treble hooked baits.
The only other Co-Poly I have ever used was YoZuri(Very strong but too much memory). McCoy has hardly any stretch, strong, and limp as all get out. I have it spooled on my Trap and Crankbait rods. I'm going to try the clear next.
McCoys has more stretch than most other lines.

I've been hooked on using 15lb braid (fireline crystal) on a medium action rod. Its tough, you don't have to worry about breaking off, and the diameter is smaller adding more action to the lure. I typically throw squarebills, and bandits on this set up. It kind of goes against the grain by eliminating stretch, but I catch way more fish. I think it really helps to feel the bottom and cover too.
The only downfall, you need to keep your drag loose. If a fish knocks the [censored] out of it, they can certainly bend out kvd hooks if you aren't ready.

I use 14 pound mono. Its pretty rare that I fish a crank bait with real heavy cover.

Line diameter really isn't that much difference between mono and fluro, look it up. It all depends on do you want stretch which will be harder for fish to get off or sensitivity to feel structure better.Figure out depth you are fishing most often. If you are fishing deep you need 10-12lb line. Most of the time if you are not fishing deep 15 lb line will offer more security.

Mccoys 12lb for deep cranks, 15 if in heavy timber. Mccoys 15 for squarebills, 17 if heavy cover. Mccoys 15 for topwater. 17 to 20 for traps. I use Invisix for everything else.

15 lb fluorocarbon is a good choice for crankbaiting timber or around other cover such as boat docks. If there is no cover in the area you are fishing then 12 lb would probably be the better choice, as it would help your bait to get a bit deeper and allow for a further cast. I think 25 lb is quite a bit heavy for casting crankbaits unless you are throwing a deep crank in thick cover on Lake Falcon or Lake Fork. Check out this video for more info on what crankbait line size I use for my early season cranking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZslZiOwgVc
