Thanks Curtis and "sketter22" for the replies. cheers Curtis: I fished the Springs and the bite was very good. "Skeeter22": As far as I know the only fish stocked are the Rain Bows. I noticed some markings on some of the fish and was told that the reason for the markings was the fish were raised in a fish hatchery. noidea

Have any of you guys tried White Water, Mt. Breeze, or Rio. Just wondering how the fishing is on those parts of the river.

They were hitting the Berkley Trout worms (Orange Colored) the best! Also tried several jigs and some small gold spoons with good results. There were several anglers throughout the time I was there but not crowded at all! thumb Plan on hitting White Water later this week. fish

Sounds like a good time. Planning on taking the boys after school Friday. Don't know the area. Planning to go to whitewater sports per map. Is that where they release at? Says the 25th another stocking.Should be fun.

From what Ive learned the markings arn't so much from being raised in captivity as the strand of breed used rainbow trout is a broad name it actually covers like 10-12 species... I didn't count um all, but from what I've read is this particular breed is nice in Texas because it tends to stand up to summer heat longer then the rest... although I doubt they ever need to make it that long with how religiously some people fish for um during this season lol

Its not about how deep you can fish but by how you wiggle your worm

Not worth uploading a pic but took boys out today and caught a small trout and a carp. Having the boys with me,we started up by dam and kept driving around till we seen some kids fishing which was down at Camp Huaco. Only fished and hour or so but wonderful. And clean place. Mostly adults but a few kids. We will be back to try different lures/bait. The stringers I seen had mostly small fish on them. We had a good time.
